Zana and Nadia Muhsen II. - Happy Ending

Hello people,

before I start - Happy New Year to you!
Last post I shared was about Zana and Nadia Muhsen who were in 1980 married at ages 15 and 14, dragged to Yemen and forced to live here under impossibly cruel life conditions - for example forced to sexual intercourse. The book Sold that describes their story ends badly - Zana is back home but years pass and Nadia is still in Yemen with all of their kids.

So what's happened to Nadia? Is Nadia back in England now? Is Nadia still in Yemen? I finally found the answer.

Nadia and the children are now safely back in the UK. Marcus (Zana's son) came looking for his mother as soon as he turned 18, just as Zana always hoped he would.

How did I find out? By an advice of one internet user I wrote an e-mail to Andrew Crofts -- co-writer of the book Sold. He answered immediately and very politely and I was very glad to read his kind words. I wanna say huge thanks to him for answering and bringing peace to me.

Love, people                           Terez

  5. I have read the book several times & my heart is happy that the family is all together. I pray that all the other child brides in the world also find a happy end and this barbaric act is stopped once & for all.Its only in the freedom of choice that we can truly be happy to follow our dreams & not be controlled by fear, money, power & corruption. I wish you forgiveness, love & peace & applaud your courage to stand up for suffering & freedom xoxo

  7. It's not true - Nadia did not come back to the UK. I don't know why Crofts put out that information. I don't know what the truth is but Nadia is still in Yemen. She chose to stay because of all the kids she had. She told her brother Mo that she was going to stay in Yemen when he went to try to get her out.

    1. Its was years and years ago when Nadia told Mo she was staying in the Yeman. She said it because a channel four documentary filmaker called Nick Broomfield came along and put himself in the faces of Nadias mum Miriam,Zana, and Mo. Claiming that he could succeed where others hadn't to bring home Nadia, all her children, and Marcus. All they had to do is cooperate with him while he made a documentary film he sweetalked himself into the lifes of this tragic family not really giving a shit about them or the consequences his film would bring. First off he got Mo Nadias brother to announce that he wanted to visit his sister Nadia, her husband Mohammed and there children in the Yemen privately with no pressure or stress involved plus it would be just himself going out there and not anyone else. Nick Broomfield would follow behind on a different flight then meet up with mo to film a background peice plus shots of what the actually country is like. Mo was nervous about the to camera peices in case anyone was following or spying on him while he was in the country but he was so desperate to get help for his sister he was bowled over by Bloomfields smooth tongue he went ahead. The rest of the visit Mo was told he would be wearing a wire to go undercover recording every word that passed between himself and his sister and other family of Nadia outhere. Mo was informed by Bloomfield that under no circumstances was Nadia to be told what was really going on and especially that every word was being filmed and recorded. Somehow Nadia must have smelled a rat because whenever the conversation was steered towards Nadia coming back to the uk she would not be drawn on the topic of just upping and leaving the Yemen on her own accord. I have always thought that Mo secretly warned Nadia to be careful in what she said because he cared a great deal for his sister and had started to see through Broomfield. He knew that if Nadia had said her real wish was to escape the Yeman as soon as possible taking all her children with her the conversation even though they had spoken privately just between the two of them. That conversation would of course have been recorded and picked up by the wire that the Broomfield worm and his colleagues he secretly fixed into place whenever he was visiting his sister or she visited his hotel. He knew what was recorded would be going stright into Broomfield documentary and When Nadias husband and others in Yeman discovered what she had said her life and her children's would be in grave danger.
Thank God Nadia told Mo when they spoke privately that her life and her place was in the Yemen by the side of her husband whom she loved a great deal and her children,She explained that the Yeman was her home and she had lived longer in the Yeman than she had in the UK.
Nadia was right to be cautious because Nick Broomfeild was only interested in making money out of the family and their situation with his documentary. He would have hung all the family out to dry if they had not sensed his motives were not good. He gave a total misrepresentation of the situation in his documentary then disappeared into the night when he thought he had got his own way.
That man did alot of damage to the cause of Nadia and her family and most likely put Nadias return to the UK back.

    2. I would like to add that with exception in part of Miriam Ali her mother that Nadia has been exploited by her family in the UK. Sister Zana made a pot full of money writing several books covering everything she wrote in the first. Her mother also wrote a book about the same with a human rights activist. Broomfield got a nice wedge from channel four then moved on to use Eileen Wurnos as his next pot of gold documentary. The brother Mo got on with his own life but would have got a nice cheque on the sky from Broomfield. Andrew Crofts is so far us Zanas backside its offensive. I did not agree with the way they all put down Nadias husband. Putting down the father I can understand but I feel there is no truth in what they say about Mohammed. If he was as bad as they paint him then I am sure after countless books, documentarys,tv show interviews, interventions by governments, ect if Nadia was treated badly by him she would have been on that plane and home years ago. I hope Zana Muhsen or Miriam Ali read this as I say...dear Zana and Miriam; Please do the right thing for once and dig into that big pots of gold u both have dont like as I can prove both of your lifestyles. It's about time Nadia and Mohammed were treated by both of you to a holiday like a cruise wherever they wish or a trip of a lifetime. Come on you tight fisted douchbags just do it. And no not the uk

  8. You are right Johanna. Nadia never ccome back to UK. and this was her choice because her whole family all kids and grandkids are living there. I think Mr. Croft want to make for the readers a "happy ending" but lot of people knows she and her family stayed in Yemen.

    1. Thank you for your comment Edit Sara - I am reading the second book - Without Mercy about Miriam Ali. It fills in a lot of the gaps from Zana's book Sold. I have been totally captivated by this family's journey. Next I read Promise to Nadia. I would love to know what is going on with Nadia. She is a beautiful person.

  16. There is no proof, this is not true. A news of this importance would've been found on Google. Not one word about her return to England. Nonsense news it is.
